There is no single “perfect” season for everyone. In spring gardens are at their best and days grow longer; in autumn colours and harvests make the Tuscan countryside unforgettable. Summer offers evening hours and piazza life, but needs queue-avoidance strategies. Quieter winter is ideal for museums and art cities.
The choice depends on interests (art, food, nature, faith), group makeup and length of stay. Even two or three nights can be enough if the pace is realistic.
